The North Carolina State Wolfpack was on the verge of making a statement in the ACC with a 20-point lead in the second half at Duke on Thursday night.
After squandering that advantage and going on to lose, the Wolfpack are staring at the wrong side of the at-large bubble with a daunting schedule ahead.
For a team that shot just over 30 percent in the second half on Thursday, No. 21 Florida State Seminoles is the last team they want to see.
The Seminoles lead the ACC in field goal percentage defense and have won nine of their last 10 games.

Florida State Seminoles (18-7): The Seminoles swept two games from the Wolfpack last season, claiming an 84-71 home victory and winning in Raleigh, 72-62, on Mar. 6. Michael Snaer scored 13 points in each of the two games while Bernard James combined to shoot 14 of 17. Snaer has developed a reputation for hitting big shots and earned it again on Thursday, when his late 3-pointer lifted Florida State to a 48-47 win over Virginia Tech. The Seminoles trailed, 45-37, with 1:29 left. The victory kept them in a three-way tie for first place.
North Carolina State Wolfpack (18-8): The Wolfpack were running away with the game on Thursday, holding a 61-41 lead with 11:33 left at Cameron Indoor Stadium. But instead of adding a signature win to its NCAA Tournament resume, NC State picked up a signature loss. That snapped a three-game winning streak and put the Wolfpack in a hole with Florida State and No. 7 North Carolina next on the schedule. NC State sits second in the ACC in team field goal percentage but can struggle defensively at times. Leading scorer Scott Wood is coming off a 1 for 7 performance and is 4 for 17 in the last two games.
